Day 49: Daily Weigh-ins

October 25, 2021: Daily weigh-ins a good idea or not? I say “Not”.

Good morning Optavia familia!

The only reason I do them is to show you:

  • how much your weight can fluctuate from one day to the next
  • to show you my gains and my loses so that you (prayerfully) will not get discouraged by the number of the scale
  • and so that you can believe Optavia is a program that works if you stay with it

Otherwise, I would highly suggest not doing daily weigh-ins!

Why?

Because at some point they may no longer encourage you to work your Optavia program or any other program for that matter.

The weight loss slows down (currently I’m losing a couple ounces a day), which can be very discouraging, IF I hadn’t already experienced this phenomenon previously.

Clean jammies on! Total weight lost to date: 23.8 pounds

I don’t want that for you!

I also found a lot of articles that basically say I’m not crazy for doing daily weigh-ins: Who knew? lol

The link works even though it’s running off the page lol-fyi 🙂

I chose this article because it’s short, and because it presented both sides of the spectrum of daily weigh-ins.

I really liked that it addressed one’s personality and how that should be a consideration when deciding if weighing in frequently would encourage (control types-ME) or discourage (calmer types) you.

I can definitely see one of the benefits and that’s being able to see if I’m gaining weight almost immediately versus not realizing I had gained weight until my jeans no longer fit!

Or better yet, underware! I can squeeze into my jeans (lay on the bed, exhale all air out of my lungs and squish into them, but undergarments, if they don’t fit there’s nothing you can do about that, (except get a yeast infection.) Yikes!

What are you thoughts about weighing yourself every day?

Drop a comment below, I’d love to know! Also, do my daily weigh-in pictures/videos encourage you?

Person of Honor

Hi! I'm Raynee. I am a Christian, a licensed professional counselor, a wife to a husband I do not deserve-cause he's so wonderful, a mother of two amazing adult children I couldn't be more proud of, and a grandmother AKA Mimi of seven absolutely adorable grandbabies. I am also an Optivia coach, a writer, a speaker, and most importantly (second to being a Christian that is) I am a woman of integrity and honor.
