Day 86: The Importance Of Self-Worth

December 1, 2021: The importance of self-worth when on a weight loss journey, or rather, the journey of life can not be overstated!

Knowing your worth (one of the eleven Integrity and Honor categories) is vitally important to your weight loss efforts…

I like, no I LOVE me!

Even more so when the numbers on the scale say “you’ve fallen short.”

You guys know of my plateaus and how difficult they are to get through!

How much more difficult would they be if I beat myself up or let the numbers on the scale determine my self-worth?

I struggle now as it is lol

I have to replace first thoughts; “Gained more weight huh? Guess your best efforts aren’t good enough after all!”

With…

Second thoughts; “No, this has happened before, I just have to stay the course.”

Then, I have to give a conscious effort not obsess about the weight gain.

It’s work!

But…

If I don’t do the work it takes to get to second thoughts…my day is not lived as it should be!

For some women, their self-worth is attached to the number on the scale and the fallout of that attachment can be devastating!

There are numerous articles about eating disorders and body dissatisfaction (in the therapy realm we call this body dysmorphia).

Here is one such article:

I particularly liked how it disspelled some common misconceptions about eating disorders using a research study, but presenting their findings in a way that makes it easy for people to understand.

The article points out, for women in particular, the importance of self-worth cannot be ignored.

So, ladies (and men) know your worth… it will help your weight loss efforts!

Today’s weigh in picture:

Person of Honor

Hi! I'm Raynee. I am a Christian, a licensed professional counselor, a wife to a husband I do not deserve-cause he's so wonderful, a mother of two amazing adult children I couldn't be more proud of, and a grandmother AKA Mimi of seven absolutely adorable grandbabies. I am also an Optivia coach, a writer, a speaker, and most importantly (second to being a Christian that is) I am a woman of integrity and honor.
