Day 87: Fasting

December 2, 2021: Fasting to do or not to do?

For me, because I am a Christian and called to fast, it is not an option, but a requirement. (One I have seriously been ignoring!)

Especially when I’m struggling with something I really need God’s help!

I haven’t fasted since before I start Optavia, but I need to now. (Have I ever warned you to be careful about what you pray for? lol)

Last Sunday, I asked God to search my heart to see if there was anything “hanging out there” that I needed to take care of.

Turns out there is an apology I need to make and…

Turns out I don’t want to make it.

I’m going to need God’s help to work through my own feelings of anger, betrayal and unforgiveness.

So, I’m fasting.

What about other non-religious reasons for fasting?

Should you do it?

I researched articles (of course I did, I always do lol) and found quite a lot of articles on fasting!

Seems it’s the “in” thing to do nowadays for weight loss!

I chose this article for you guys because I trust webmd:

And because it discussed fasting for religious reasons lol.

And because it listed the pros and cons…I do like to be fair lol

And because it stated that fasting for a day or two is unlikely to be dangerous for most healthy adults.

But it does caution against using fasting for weight loss as it can cause health problems; muscle loss, cause your body to go into conservation mode, and fasting can cause your body to burn calories more slowly.

Tell me what you thought about it by dropping a comment below!

Person of Honor

Hi! I'm Raynee. I am a Christian, a licensed professional counselor, a wife to a husband I do not deserve-cause he's so wonderful, a mother of two amazing adult children I couldn't be more proud of, and a grandmother AKA Mimi of seven absolutely adorable grandbabies. I am also an Optivia coach, a writer, a speaker, and most importantly (second to being a Christian that is) I am a woman of integrity and honor.
